Wine for Thought!

I came across this on the back of a bottle of wine of all things. Very inspiring:
“LIFE HAS ITS UPS AND DOWNS. IT CAN BE BOTH BRUTAL AND BEAUTIFUL. YOU CAN HOLE YOURSELF AWAY TO AVOID LIFE’S PAIN, BUT THEN THE BEAUTY SELDOM FIND ITS WAY IN. IT’S ONLY WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO GO WHERE YOU CANNOT GO, OR DO WHAT YOU CANNOT DO, THAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE WHAT YOU ARE TRULY CAPABLE OF DOING. SURE, YOU MIGHT TUMBLE, YOU MIGHT FALL. SO WHAT? TAKE A CHANCE, GO WAY OUT ON THE LIMB, DARE TO TRY – EVEN IF ITS JUST A SHOT IN THE DARK.”

WARNING: MINOR SPOILER’S AHEAD!
I’m going to take you through the process of sound design from the beginning to the end of a film project. Audio can often be one of the most overlooked component on a show and if done poorly really can hamper the viewing experience. The elements of sound for film is captured throughout the production of a show: from recording the actors dialog and any type of on set ambience that might be used later to post-production: fixing and re-recording dialog (if needed), adding sound effects (also referred to as Foley) and creating the music (The score) before delivering a final “mix” containing all of these elements for the audience to experience.
Sound For Vision: The Music of After Judgment Part 2

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! I’m going to continue with the various themes and cues that make up the soundtrack of After Judgment Season 1
The first piece is one of my personal favorites. It appears it Episode 9: I Bleed For you when Michelle (Taryn O’Neil) and Mrs. Reynolds (Kristin Huff) get into a disagreement of sorts. With this scene I wanted to convey a very primal instinct and reaction. I was very influenced by the likes of Jerry Goldsmith, Leonard Rosenman and Lalo Scifrin from the heavy raw percussion scores a la Planet of the Apes.

The title of this blog: “Sound for Vision” will reflect on these different areas of audio from time to time.
That being said, I thought I’d start the inaugural blog off with my involvement as the music composer for “After Judgment”
